Goals for 2017 … First Three Months

Good Morning! So it's already April and there is only 6 weeks left of school and then Summer is going to be here!  I feel like we are moving at the speed of a freight train right now getting ready for our daughter's Musical next week.  Next week is going to be crazy indeed.  Anyway, I woke up today thinking about my goals and that it was time for a blog update.  It's been 3 full months of tracking goals and it's time to look back and see how things are going, where I need to focus more, and make any...

Pageant Portfolio Headshots by Portrait Photographer Brenda Landrum in Fort Collins Colorado

Leah … Portrait Portfolio

This is one of my beautiful nieces!  I love being an Aunt and especially when I get to do what I love and photograph them.  Leah needed some headshots for a competition she is submitting to and I was more then happy to be her photographer.  She is quite the natural in front of the camera.  She is such a cutie and has the sweetest personality.  We did her entire photoshoot in her family's home and yard which I love because it's unique to her and a comfortable space. I hope she does amazing in her competition.  We're cheering for you!  ...

Yummy glazed donuts, still life photography, food photography, by Northern Colorado photographer Brenda Landrum.

Donuts Anyone?

About once pr month I take a breakfast dish to a bible study group I am in.  I always sign up to bring something sugary and unhealthy (you're welcome) because well that's what I want for breakfast.  So last week I was trying to decide what to bring and I have never seen anyone bring donuts.  I decided it was time for donuts.  It was really hard for my daughter and husband to not eat them all first.  Actually my daughter sneaked one before I could tell her not to! Recap of March 2017 by Front Range Lifestyle and Still Life Photographer Brenda Landrum.

Goodbye March

Another month is done. Why do they seem to be going by so quickly?  After Christmas I thought, oh good January will slow down.  Then I thought well maybe February will slow down?  Yes, it's March and we can slow down!  Nope.  It's just go go go every single day, week, and month.  I talk about months going by quickly ...

Spring Break 2017 Flat Lay by Brenda Landrum.

Spring Break 2017

Our Spring Break was last week and since my husband has just started a new job we knew that we would not be able to go anywhere so our time was spent at home being easy going and getting lots of rest.  My daughter and I got our haircut, we took daily walks, made good food for dad, watched movies, read books, and slept in.  I don't mind simple Spring Breaks.  In fact, typically we don't go anywhere and choose to stay home with no schedule or routine's to keep. What does your ideal Spring Break look like?...

Yummy Soft Peanut Butter Cookies, food photography by Brenda Landrum of Northern Colorado.

Yummy Peanut Butter Cookies

I love baking!  Cookies are my favorite to make, especially chocolate chip cookies, and I also love baking bread.  Brownies, too.  I don't like complicated recipes and there is nothing more awesome then filling my home with the sweet scents baking makes.  It makes everyone gravitate to the kitchen (why I like baking on the weekend when everyone is home) in anticipation to eat what is coming out of the oven. I recently tried this Peanut Butter Cookie recipe and I really like them ...

Choose to See It

Real joy comes from experiencing life here and now. - Christina Greve It is so easy to get caught up in looking to far into the future and worrying about how you are going to get there.  I get trapped in this too often.  I'm thinking about future goals, where I want to be and where I want my family to be instead of living today.  THIS MOMENT.  Right now.  When I'm not experiencing life here and now I'm not able to feel real joy.  But when I experience TODAY with all it's ups and downs then I am able to feel deep joy. So today let's Choose to See It,...

Autumn at Kenosha Pass in the Colorado Rocky Mountains photographed by Landscape Photographer Brenda Landrum of Fort Collins

#TBT … Kenosha Pass

Today I’m doing a little Throwback Thursday.  Way back in October we took a little road trip up to Kenosha Pass.  This was an area we had never been in and I had read and seen photos that it's a beautiful drive during the fall so thought it was time to go check it out.  It did not disappoint with the views!  The driving was really nice (not crazy windy & steep like Trail Ridge Road) and the views were spectacular.  Some of the large expansive valley's were stunning!  The only downfall of Kenosha Pass were the amounts of people...

Before and After processing comparison to achieve the look the eye see's but the camera does not by Fort Collins Colorado Photographer Brenda Landrum.

Before and After

Today I thought it would be fun to share a before and after of an image I processed.  This image is a personal image of mine when I was practicing Free Lensing a couple of years ago.  I chose this image today simple because I was looking at images from that year and thought it was a good candidate. As you may know, there are a lot of times your camera does not see the world like your eyes see it.  This scene is a good example of that.  I was a warm summer evening and the sunset was gorgeous.  We were...

A look back over 12 years of my daughter in photos by Brenda Landrum.

She’s 12 Years Old

My baby is turning 12 today!  Every single year I say this and I'm going to say it again, I can't believe she's a year older.  She was such a little peanut at 5 lbs when she was born and she has the most wonderful personality.  She cares for others, adores her friends, loves her family (especially her cousins), and is the sweetest.  She makes life fun with her silliness and I love her creativity and whit.  It's amazing to think back over these 12 years and all the things we've done and gone through together. Happy Birthday Buba!!...

Saying goodbye to the month of February, images by Northern Colorado Photographer Brenda Landrum.

Goodbye February

I'm kind of glad to see February go.  Anyone else out there feel the same?  February seemed to be a bit harder of a month for us.  There was more stress involved so I'm really looking forward to March and starting a new chapter.  Now there were good things in February, too!  The weather was amazing and we were able to get out more and take walks to enjoy the warm sun.  I really got Spring fever though and we still have more winter to get through.  I found my creativity!!  It was fun creating some fun flatlay's with some vintage pieces...

5 Things About Me

Today I thought I'd do something a little bit different. Most of the time I assume that my visitors probably know everything about me, since I'm sort of an open book, but forget that I'm sure there are those who do not know me. So thought it would be fun to share 5 totally random things about me today! [eltd_separator class_name="" type="normal" position="center" color="" border_style="dashed" width="" thickness="" top_margin="" bottom_margin=""] [eltd_list_ordered] I Once Cooked Tulip Bulbs  -  When I was a teenager I would do some cooking in the summer for my dad and brother.  One day I decided to make them spaghetti...

Rose in a dark pink color photographed with a Sigma 70mm macro on a Canon 5D Mark III by Brenda Landrum of Northern Colorado.

The Meaning of a Flowers Color

Yesterday I was thinking about the significance of what color a flower is when you give it to someone.  Since Valentine's Day is just a few days away I thought it would be fun to share what those meanings are!  Do you think about the color of a flower before you give it?  Ya I don't either and I know my husband doesn't.  Ha!  Most of the time it's about what that person's favorite flower is or maybe their favorite color is but let's look and see what the colors really do mean.   Red Fresh red flowers send the clear and powerful...

Flower petals shaped into a heart for Valentine's Day, prints available as gifts from Fort Collins Photographer Brenda Landrum.

Heart Shaped Petals

I have had the idea of doing a heart shape out of flower petals since about New Years.  I played around with some dried peony petals that I had and I liked how it turned out with the soft pink colors.  Then last week I received some flowers and decided to do another set with fresh petals.  They are a pretty purple color which I like the higher contrast between the petals and the white background.  These images can be found in the Print Studio in the Miscellaneous Collection. So in honor of Valentine's Day coming I share my ❤️'s with you. ...
