My Camera Gear

I am all about sharing so here is the gear that I use and other info for you photographers out there. If you have any questions…….ask away!

In my Bag

Canon 5D Mark II – hollaa!!!

Canon 40D – back up camera

Canon Vertical Grip

Canon 85mm 1.8

Canon 50mm 1.4 – this is my favorite lens!

Canon 28mm 1.8 – my second favorite lens!

Canon 28-135mm IS USM 3.5/5.6 Macro

Sigma 28-200mm 3.5/5.6 Macro

Canon 550EX Flash

Sunpak Auto 383 Super – use as my off camera flash

Minolta Light Meter (this little guy is pretty old)

Skyport Radio Slave system – I love this radio slave system. It is a much better price the the PocketWizards, much smaller, and so easy to use. I have not had them miss fire. I don’t shoot a lot of flash but these are great when it is needed. I recommend these to anyone who is looking for an alternative to the PW.

Tripper Portable Storage System – this comes in really handy when all my cards are full and I need to empty one really quick. Also works awesome on vacation to empty cards when your no where near your computer. :)

Lowepro Backpack – I keep things that I don’t need access to as much and to hold my camera when not in use.

Shootsac! – I can’t say enough about this bag. Holds my lenses, light meter, flash, CF cards, billfold and keys, and extra battery pack for grip. All right there on my hip – sweet!

Shooting

Raw all the way – I do not like how JPG’s look in comparison.

I use to shoot on Aperture Priority all the time but have started shooting Manual most of the time.  I just keep an eye on my in camera meter and adjust my exposure to get what I need.  Takes some practice but it has been worth the time and effort!

Computer Geek

MacBook Pro & iMac – love love love!

Canon iP5000 Printer

2 External 500GB HD

Spyder2Express Monitor Calibrator – needed and a great price!

Lightroom 2.3 – love, love, love!  This is the corner stone of my workflow, every image goes through LR.  This is the single most important piece of software that I use.  Images don’t go to Photoshop until they have been in LR first and once I have done my adjustments in Photoshop back to LR they go.  I use LR for all my personal images and fine art….everything I shoot!!!

Photoshop CS3

ShowIt Web

Photojunction

Website

Website/Blog is made from the Pro Photo 3.0 theme!  I love this theme because I can really customize it to what I want.  It is a very powerful wordpress theme!  I used both the previous versions and just had to upgrade when they released 3.0.  I highly recommend this company!

Shopping Cart – Photo Cart!  Another powerful tool to use for your proofing galleries for clients.  Much more cost effective then other competitors that I have researched.

Vendors

WHCC – love this lab for all my prints and press product needs.  Great turn around time and customer service!

Millers Lab – their customer service has been superb and the products that I have purchased are top quality.

Consumer Vendor Recommendations

Shutterfly – I use them for all of my personal photo storage to archive and share with our family.  It is very important to make sure you have your personal files in a place that is safe.  Even if you do have your files on disk sometimes those disks do not work in newer cd/dvd drives or they get damaged.  Hard drives fail, computers crash, or fires and theft…?!?!  Back up your files!!!

MPix.com – This lab is great for consumers and they produce a great product!
