I Am So Proud! | Life

I am having a very proud mom kind of day! My daughter has been taking swimming lessons over the last 3 weeks and we are in the last week. She took this same class this summer and if you had been following me during that time, you saw how frustrating it was. We had a lot of separation issues and for some reason instead of having fun in the pool she was screaming at me. Needless to say they told us we needed to do the class again. That’s when I decided that we would try a winter class and hope that there wouldn’t be as many kids and as much chaos as it was during the summer. I am so glad I signed her up!

Today was just any other day, going to class and excited to go. I was just watching as usual while browsing Facebook and Twitter on my phone. They were doing their normal picking something up off the pool bottom to get their heads in the water as much as they will allow. When I look up and see that she’s dipped her face in the water and then she looks at me to see if I was watching and how I would react. Next thing I know she’s got her face in the water up to her eyes and I instantly broke out in a huge smile, thumbs up, and laughing. It took all I could to not start jumping up and down in front of everyone. That was huge!! This girl is just like her mom, doesn’t like to put her head in the water. I still don’t! So for her to just give it a go with out her teacher asking her to was big! I have been beaming all day about it.

So because I’m a proud mom I had to share this slideshow that shows the progression of her ‘Big Dip’.

Happy Birthday to My Baby | Life

Yesterday was my daughter’s 5th birthday! It really is hard to believe that she is already 5 because it seems like she was just 2. Time does get away from you when you have a child because things change so quickly, sometimes right before your eyes. All of sudden she is no longer my baby and now she’s a big girl who we are preparing to go to kindergarten! This week hasn’t been all that I was hoping though. Mommy (me) has been sick with an ugly cold and sinus infection that will not go away. I wanted yesterday to be a bit ‘bigger’ then what it ended up but in the end I do not think she cared. She was happy and that made me happy!

We started the day with swimming lessons.

Then we took her out for lunch and where do you think she wanted to go? Panera! It was funny to us that that was her request. After that we went to Build A Bear, a place I have never taken her in fear that it would start an obsession. She at first couldn’t understand why all the toys were flat! ‘What is wrong with these toys?’ she asked. After lots of explaining then she got into it and chose a beautiful wolf, put her in a fancy red dress, and called her Sparky!

I was right, she’s obsessed! Actually the obsession was already there, anytime she gets a new toy it’s a stuffed animal.

We then had a little birthday treat at home and I sang Happy Birthday to her! These yummy cookies were her birthday snack at preschool.

And to finish she created a masterpiece with her new window markers that Great Aunt Starla gave to her over the weekend. She loves these!

(mommy’s not sure yet, *wink)

This last weekend I traveled to Bayard Nebraska to photograph a very special little boy, Cooper. I documented his parents wedding in 2008 and could not of been more excited when his mommy contacted me. It is such an honor to photograph such amazing moments in their lives! Moments they will treasure forever. Cooper was very good during our session, it was me that kept messing things up! He would be sleeping so soundly and then I would just have to move his arms. Oh how he hated me moving his arms! Every time he would let me know that he was not happy about what I was doing. I had such a great time during my time with Cooper and I think we captured some amazing images of him.

Is he just not the cutest little guy! He was very interested in what I was up to.

I really love this image! He looks all snuggled in there.

It took some time to get this shot, lots of arm arguments, but I love how it turned out.

This one however is my absolute favorite! I love all the texture. I want to hang this in my office I love it so much!

I have yet another wonderful wedding and gift website to share with you today! I love this one not only for weddings but for any special occasion that you want to give a unique gift. The website is Paloma’s Nest and they create handmade modern heirloom’s. The Ring Bearer Bowls are absolutely adorable and so unique. I have never seen any ring bearer carry anything like this! Then to have that after your wedding to use for everyday if you wish, you could put your rings in the bowl at night. I *love* this idea! You could give one of their Text Bowls as a wedding gift with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date! Everything can be customized so let your imagination run with it. You can even have your vows engraved in a piece! It doesn’t stop with bowls they have ornaments, hearts, tiles, eggs, tokens, and many other items. A couple ideas that I had was to give one as a baby gift with the baby’s name and birthday or to a couple on their anniversary. The possibilities are endless!

Just Look at These! | Bridal Headbands by ban.do

I have been coming across all kinds of great wedding websites! Makes me wish I could do my wedding again because things are so different then when I married my husband 11.5 yrs ago. I found these bridal headbands made by ban.do and they are gorgeous! I love how the one pictured below lays so close to the head. Wouldn’t this be gorgeous to wear in place of a veil OR to put on at the reception? I think so!
