Someday ….. You Will Be Mine | Things I Like

Warning:  Not photography related at all!  Just being ME today.

Do you ever have that one thing that you want and dream about all the time but just can not have it?  I have something that I dream about, several times a week when I’m doing the laundry.  See we have lived in this home for 7.5 years and of course with newly built homes (don’t worry it’s a cookie cutter) you usually get the washer and dryer with it or at least we did.  At that time front loaders were extremely expensive and not even on my radar so mine are the good old fashion kind.  Remember what those looked like?  Ha ha ha!!  Well over the last few years I have been DREAMING about getting a front loading washer and dryer, especially when there was that great government tax credit and everyone was buying them!  Yeah, I was jealous.  It just didn’t make sense for us to buy something new when ours were working just fine and still do, unfortunately.  So until I can convince my hubby to spend almost $2k to wash clothes ….. I will continue to dream.

They sure would look nice!

The Last Day | Oregon Part 4 | Life

The last day of our stay in Oregon was spent listening to waterfalls along the Historic Highway 30 and walking through the Chinese Gardens in Portland’s China Town.  It was a very nice way to end our trip to Oregon.  We hope to someday take our daughter!!

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum | Oregon Part 2 | Life

The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum was not on our list of things to do while in Oregon.  We had no idea that it even existed!  We were on our way to the coast when we came across these massive buildings in what seemed like the middle of no where and when my husband saw the sign we screeched to a stop and turned in.  I think that this could be the highlight of our trip because we spent 2.5 hours at this museum and saw something that we NEVER thought we would ever see ….. The Spruce Goose.  My husband loves aviation and WWII history so this place was like heaven to him.  He could name most of the airplanes and saw some that he didn’t think he would ever see.  The people that work there are mostly volunteer vets which was amazing to listen to their first hand stories.  But to see that massive plane that Howard Hughes built and flew once was amazing!  It was just too big for me to photograph and you can see it in most of my photos below, lurking in the background.

I wish that I could label each airplane below but I can not, when I get back home maybe I can get my husband to help me!

My husband was very excited about seeing this plane.  I might be wrong but I think this was the first ever jet fighter that was made.

I also want to draw your attention to the massive plane lurking in the background, The Spruce Goose!

We were able to listen to these two vets talk.  The gentleman on the left flew a plane just like this one on D-Day.  To hear these stories is truly an honor.

Now we are in the Space Museum.

When we walked in this was one of the first things my husband started asking the volunteer about and I think they talked about it for 30 min!

Portland Japanese Garden | Oregon Part 1 | Life

Last weekend my husband and I went on a little vacation to Oregon.  Two years ago we went to Vail to celebrate our 10 year anniversary but after only one day of being there we had to rush back to Nebraska because our girl had a double ear infection.  So we decided to celebrate our 12 year anniversary with a vacation to a place that I have been wanting to go to for years!  I will admit though that the flying portion of this trip had my stomach in all kinds of knots with major anxiety.  I really HATE flying and the last time I was in an airplane was in 2004!  We would of loved to take our daughter with us but we decided that we would spend this trip together and let her have her own vacation in Nebraska at my parents house.  I think it was a win win for everyone!!

The first day that we were there we decided to unwind at the Portland Japanese Garden.  I loved it there!!  It was cloudy and a bit misty, quiet, and so relaxing.  It even rained lightly which was so nice because we ended up finding a little covered bench to sit on and take it all in.  If you ever venture to Portland I highly recommend visiting this garden!
