To Frame a Print

A couple of days ago I was framing several prints for various reasons when I decided that I would show you guys how I normally frame a print.  It is very simple, just takes a few tools and a little bit of time.  Nothing that I used was custom, it was all purchased in a store and put together by myself.  Here we go!

First I gather all of my tools that I need.  Windex, paper towl, knife, scissors, tape, frame, mat, and print. How to frame a print by Brenda Landrum Photographer

First take the frame apart by using the knife to assist you with the little pins, take everything out and clean the glass really well.

Make sure you let it dry before you put anything on top of it.

Then place your mat on top of the glass inside of the frame.

Next place your print in the center of the cut out of the mat and tape it along the edges.

Then put the frame all back together and bend the pins to hold it all in place.

I personally do not like to use the sawtooth hangers they include, instead I buy the wire hanging kits.  I buy mine at either Aaron Bro or Hobby Lobby.

Screw in the eye hooks about a third of the way down from the top of the frame and string the wire, wrapping the wire around itself so it does not unwind.
