Thrifting | Things I Like

Easter weekend my parents and I finally ventured into the flea market area of town.  I have been talking about it for a very long time but for some reason never wanted to go by myself and it really isn’t a place for kids.  Believe me, we took the little one to one store and it was nothing but …. don’t touch that, please be careful, watch where you are going, and carrying her which she’s too big for that.  She wanted to touch everything and those places are packed so tight and one bump could send 20 things flying.  Anyway, the reason I wanted to start looking into flea markets and thrift stores is to find some ‘new’ dining room chairs that I could paint and recover to my own liking with out spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars.  Well in the very last store we were in for the day and right before we needed to go and pick up my girl from a birthday party I found one.  A chair!!  The look of it was perfect and it was very sturdy but for some reason I struggled.  I went back and forth about it with my mom and not because it was expensive but it was my first.  This chair was going to set the tone for everything else I bought from that point on.  So I did it!  I have my first chair for the dining room.  I know what you are thinking, I’ll never find another chair that matches this.  That’s precisely the point!!  I want each chair to be different but similar in little ways.

My new obsession is searching in flea markets and thrift stores!  I have been looking in thrift stores as I go about my errands and I plan on hitting those flea markets again, very very soon!!  Maybe even by myself.

So here it is, my $23 chair!!  I recovered the seat in this fabric I found at the fabric store.  Did you see my tweet that I took my husband there?  He survived!

I love it!  Right now it looks a bit out of place with the rest of it but I have a plan.  That gold oak has got to go!
